On May 9th 1992 Sandy and Jeff welcomed me, Levi Devin McCurdy into this world. Growing up I knew I was destined to be an entertainer. Dancing in the streets of Gettysburg at age 5 and performing in school plays all the way through middle school. Becoming a freshman at a new high school I knew it was time for a change. Channel surfing one day I came across magician, David Blaine. I knew right away, magic was my new calling. Researching the subject day in and day out I began performing in front of my family first and then on to make cheesy videos for YouTube and MySpace. I knew Levi McCurdy wouldn’t get me far in life so I created an alter ego, Levi Sparkx. As I grew, I became more skilled in the art of magic. Stepping up my game from simple card tricks to bigger stunts. I love playing with the mind so in 2008 I performed, The Glass Walk. With the help of my father I walked on a five-foot blanket of broken glass. After receiving an amazing response from the glass walk Levi Sparkx continued doing magic. Unfortunately becoming a senior in high school left me with a lot of extra work to do. After graduating I knew it was my time to shine. I grabbed my camera and set off to the local shopping mall to film another video, “Wishing 4 My Dreams”. I knew only doing street magic and card tricks wasn’t going to get me to Vegas like all the other famous magicians.

With the love and support from my family and friends Levi Sparkx is destined to make it to the top.

In the day of age we are in now, you need to be online to get noticed. Yes, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter helped but levisparkx.com needed to be a reality. After high school I decided to enroll in the web design and interactive media program at The Art Institute of York. Gaining a huge amount of help from my buddy Chris, levisparkx.com was live with in the time of my second semester. The views and comments were rolling in left and right. My website was a hit! About six months later I learned and grew in the field of web design. I began to come to reality with the fact that my website was terrible when it came to design, SEO, color theory and so much more, it was time for a re-design. I worked day in and day out, I researched and found exactly what I wanted to do. Months went by and the new site was finally done.

The new and improved, highly professional,  levisparkx.com was done.  Upon initial launch of my new site in 2011 I realized it couldn’t be all about me. I was just a college kid from York County PA. No one was searching for me on Google, no one wanted to hire me for a party. So, I decided to not only make levisparkx.com a website about myself, but also a site magicians and fans could go to, to learn about the latest in magic news. There was only a handful of sites actually doing this at the time. The news started to spread and traffic started coming into the site. Like I said before, my friends and family are what keep me going. My grandmother gave me the opportunity to perform for her assisted living home. It was set to be an hour long show with about thirty people.  I’ve never performed a show before, my hands were shaking the entire time! Not being prepared for the show I did card tricks and close up magic the entire time. The hour show turned into a two hour show. The night came to an end and my very first show was a success.

Now, I have a live magic show, a professionally built website, and over all experience under my belt, Levi Sparkx blew up. After my grandmothers show I was scheduled for three more shows after that. I performed for Easter Seals Day Camp, Scoops Deli and Ice Cream (video embedded),  and The Art Institute of York. I felt like I was on top of the world. Winter of 2011 was upon us.  With school full time, working part time, being a magician and running the website time was not my friend. I had to sort out my priorities, passing grades and paying bills was at the top of the list.

The biggest news had yet to come. While on Twitter one evening I receive a direct message from Jay Jay, the owner and founder of Free Magic Live. He offered me a job that just might of changed my life. For those of you who don’t know Free Magic Live is a website that offers you free close up and street magic. With over 25,000 subscribers to not only their site but to YouTube,

Facebook, and Twitter, I knew Free Magic Live was something I needed to be apart of! Jay wanted to start up a new chapter of Free Magic Live. After talking, designing, video chatting, and brainstorming, we created Free Magic Live News.

I would film, edit, upload and promote a video once a week reporting on magic and magicians in the news. Now employed by Jay Jay, my name grew even bigger. Even though it added another job onto my work load I wasn’t complaining. The new YouTube channel exploded with subscribers and video views within the first months of being live. I am currently working on another magic stunt for mid 2012.  Something live, big, and overall something people will remember.
