This morning on Good Morning America they covered the latest story in the magic world, Wayne Houchin being attacked. The news cast shows the video that millions have already seen as well as support from world known magician, David Copperfield.
You try to present yourself as a performer that is creating wonder and amazement and occasionally somebody might misunderstand that and might think that you’re trying to foster belief in something supernatural.
Copperfield told ABC News Sunday night.
Wayne is said to make a full recovery and will be coming back to the states soon.
Wayne released this statement yesterday via Twitter:
Update: I will be extending my stay here in the Dominican Republic in order to undergo continuous treatment for my burns, the doctors are cautiously optimistic that I will fully recover with no scars.
The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country full of beautiful people. The outrage here and outpouring of support has been incredible.
The support & love sent my way through social media, blogs, forums, friends and fans has been both humbling & overwhelming. Thank you.

This is what Wayne Houchin had to say about the situation:
Monday while appearing on a TV show in the Dominican Republic, the TV host took a handful of Aqua De Florida, ignited it and intentionally dropped it on my head, setting me on fire.
I was not aware he was going to do this. This was not a stunt or part of an act – this was a criminal attack. The fast actions of the rest of our Curiosidades team saved my life. The fire was put out and I was rushed to the emergency room. I have bad burns on my head, face, neck and right hand. I am in pain, but am recovering. I will update you on the situation when I can.
We wish Wayne a fast recovery, from everyone at levisparkx.com
The first two episodes of Breaking Magic aired last night on the Discovery Channel. The show featured four world known magicians including James Galea, Billy Kidd, Wayne Houchin, and Ben Hanlin. The group traveled all over the world performing magic with a bit of science behind it. After each effect was performed we learned the chemistry behind it! Some big stunts included Wayne Houchin bungee jumping with nothing but two books between him and the ground and James Galea almost getting his hand smashed by a 13lb cannon ball falling from the sky. Over all I loved the show! The effects performed were visual and simple to do, all anyone would need is the knowledge behind the science.
You can catch a clip from the show below and tune in every monday at 10p.m on the Discovery Channel for more Breaking Magic!
Breaking Magic has had it’s doubts but after rumors and speculation it will be airing on the Discovery Channel this Sunday at 10 p.m. To promote the show Wayne Houchin and James Galea took turns fooling the host of the Today Show. In the video you’ll see Wayne doing his signature quarter in soda can routine and James took on the host with a deck of cards! Don’t forget to set your DVRs for the premiere of this new show!
